Safari Reader
Safari Reader is a built-in view in Safari on iPad, iPhone and Mac that hides navigation menus and other distracting items, reformatting the page to show just the relevant text and images. On a supported website, tap the Page Menu button next to the address field and choose Show Reader; on Mac, press Shift-Command-R. On longer pages, Safari Reader also generates a summary and a table of contents.
For students, the value is in reducing load. A research task on a cluttered reference or news site asks a learner to filter signal from noise before comprehension can begin. Safari Reader removes that filtering step so attention goes to the content. It can be set to open automatically for a trusted site through Website Settings, or for every supported site under Settings > Apps > Safari > Reader > All Websites, useful when a teacher wants a predictable reading environment across a class set.
Safari Reader pairs with other features already on the device. In Safari, Listen to Page reads a supported page aloud. For learners who need typographic control, Accessibility Reader (Settings > Accessibility > Read & Speak) is the stronger option: it presents text from any app in a full-screen view with adjustable fonts, layouts and background colours, and can read it aloud. On Apple Intelligence-capable iPad models, it can also summarise and translate text.
